Dear Family and Friends,
GREEN UP IS HERE- yesterday I looked outside and the hill I have been watching since I got here is totally green when it used to be white, brown and snowy! So, MORE big news: Sister Gerber is going home tonight. It is because of the rapid change in temperature and her body is having a strong reaction to it that was similar to how it reacted in South Carolina. It's the right decision, and she is only 2 weeks from the day she was originally leaving, but this is important to get her home as soon as possible. We are busy trying to figure out today how do get everything we need done by 4 because we just figured this out with President this morning. But she is going out with a bang. We taught 31 lessons last week! (Note from Mom: the temperature this week and last has been in the 80's!!!!)
Sister _____, the investigator whose daughter is on her mission in Ireland is so great! She fills out all the questions in the back of our pamphlets that most people don't even know are there and she wants to learn EVERYTHING she can. For time concerns, I will leave it at that this week!
We are teaching a nine year old. He is getting baptized in Utah in August and it is a part member family as well. We bring candy for him and his brother after the lesson and always work a Mormon message into there somehow. We went back again for his 2nd lesson and his dad was there and he was telling us about how he told his dad about what he learned (his mom also sits in on the meetings). They are such a great family, and the dad even got to tell his son how important Jesus Christ is to him and that it holds their family together. That was amazing to be with the family as that happened.
(One woman) who is less active who we have been meeting with weekly hasn't drank Coffee since we invited her and she accepted that a few weeks ago and is changing and even her family is noticing and asking the Elders what they are talking about with her. The Elders responded with- we just introduced her to the Sisters and they've been talking with her. Even though she doesn't want to have her family know what's going on right now, because she doesn't want to disappoint them if she messes up, she is doing SO amazing and is working to change and is gradually doing just that.
By the way, you know you are in Alaska when you're grateful for the ice to cover up the potholes. That ice is now gone.
A crazy drunk man tried to sick his dog on us this week. His dog is about 10 pounds. You can probably see how that went.
We had companionship study (with the couple upstairs) this week and their grandchildren were upstairs after we sang Joseph Smith's First Vision and they started singing too! It was TOO CUTE!
OUT OF TIME LOVE YOU!
Love,
Sister Wuehler
scripture: Ether 12:27-28
27 And if men come unto me I will show unto them their aweakness. I bgive unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my cgrace is sufficient for all men that dhumble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make eweak things become strong unto them.
28 Behold, I will show unto the Gentiles their weakness, and I will show unto them that afaith, hope and charity bringeth unto me—the fountain of all brighteousness.
